Tampa Bay Area Free Mold Inspections Start Tomorrow Post-Hurricanes
CLEARWATER, Fla. — Quality Remediation, a licensed mold remediation company with operations across the Midwest and Southeast, today announced free on-site mold inspections for homeowners and business owners in Pinellas County, including the barrier islands, as well as Hillsborough and Pasco counties, starting tomorrow, March 5, 2025, through May 31, 2025. The inspections will address growing mold risks following Hurricane Helene (2024) and Hurricane Milton (2024).
With a recently established local office at 1234 Court St., Suite B, in Clearwater, the company aims to support the community through professional inspections, remediation, education, and advocacy, following observations of widespread contamination across the region.
The free on-site mold inspections will be conducted at the residential or commercial property with the homeowner or business owner present. No inspections will be performed at the Quality Remediation office in Clearwater. Homeowners and business owners can schedule an inspection by calling 727-922-3891 or visiting qualityremediation.com. The inspections aim to identify mold, mitigate the associated health and structural risks, and educate property owners on maintaining safe environments ahead of future storms.
Hurricane Helene (2024), a Category 4 hurricane, made landfall in Florida’s Big Bend region on Sept. 26, 2024, causing widespread flooding across Tampa Bay. According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Milton (2024), a Category 3 hurricane, struck near Siesta Key on Oct. 9, 2024, leaving over 3 million residents without power. Recent assessments indicate that Milton’s rain and wind exacerbated moisture infiltration, compounding Helene’s flood damage and increasing the region's mold-related health and structural risks.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Environmental Protection Agency note that prolonged mold exposure can lead to respiratory issues, chronic illnesses, and, in rare cases, severe health risks, particularly for children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Mold can also cause structural damage to properties, especially wood-framed buildings common in Florida, resulting in costly repairs.
“We’re seeing far more than just flood damage across Pinellas, Hillsborough and Pasco counties, we’ve encountered homes with substantial contamination and signs of mold that may have been ignored for years,” said Bob Richards, founder and CEO of Quality Remediation. “Our free inspections, scheduled from March 5, 2025, through May 31, 2025, are about more than identifying problems—they’re an opportunity to educate and advocate for safer homes and businesses before the next hurricane season.”
With 18 trained specialists currently serving Pinellas, Hillsborough, Sarasota, Pasco, Polk, and Hernando counties, Quality Remediation has completed or is currently remediating properties throughout the region, particularly in Pinellas County barrier island communities like Clearwater, St. Pete Beach, Indian Rocks Beach, Indian Shores, Treasure Island, and Redington Shores, as well as other areas including Tarpon Springs, Dunedin, St. Petersburg, Palm Harbor, New Port Richey, and Temple Terrace. The company plans to grow its regional team by adding five to 10 members, including mold technicians, estimators, and supervisors, to support recovery and preparedness efforts further.
“Checking your home’s health is like visiting the doctor: if you notice signs of trouble—deterioration, unusual odors, or visible mold—it’s time for a professional inspection,” Richards added. “We’re committed to Tampa Bay, not just through remediation but by empowering the community with knowledge and advocating for better standards in property safety.”
Quality Remediation holds a Florida Mold-Related Services License (MRSR 1220) and certifications from the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification and the National Association of Mold Professionals, ensuring compliance with state and industry standards.
